HISTORY / HISTORIC RACING BOATS |
|
FB Design is the only yard in the world whose craft have set world endurance and speed records in every offshore class. You will find in this part the most famous of them: |

Probably the most famous boat designed by Fabio_Buzzi is CESA 1882. During thE 1988 season it won more than every other boat in the world: 17 consecutive podiums, with 3 second places and 14 first places. It's not only Italian, European and World Champion for the U.I.M., but also, in November, World Champion for the A.P.B.A. in Key West and winner of the Miami-Nassau-Miami. During 1989 the boat is named Gancia dei Gancia and, driven by Stefano Casiraghi and Romeo Ferraris, in Atlantic City it wins again the World Championship, being the only boat to take it two times in a row. CESA 1882 is now racing again! Completely restored with the dress of Red FPT. |

TRIMARANS |
The story of FB Design Trimarans born in 1991 principally with the project to use three engines. The first trimaran was conceived at the very outset to use the newest ideas and technologies: built with the utmost in terms of vacuum-bagging technology, in epoxy resin, epoxy gelcoat and new pluriaxial fibers; apply the high-aerodynamic lift trimaran, and semi-symmetric sponsons; a new single-engine transmission with two counter-rotaing surface propellers placed side by side; single-engine hull with a maximum 2.5 meter width, and therefore easily transportable; capable of racing in offshore classes 3 and 2, and later utilize to set new world speed record; a more manoeuvrable boat than the hydroplane long-distance races. |

CESA CATAMARAN |
The second Cesa 1882 was a big four-engine catamaran, made in 1989 and powered by Seatek. For this boat, Fabio Buzzi concentrated all his efforts on coming up with a truly efficient safety system that solved the problem of freeing a pilot from a capsized hull detaching the safety capsule. The Cesa cat won in 1989 the European Chanpionship in class 1. |

RIB TECNO 40 |
This boat was the evolution of the 38 foot monohull (multi-time offshore champion) and it was made in order to make a rescue-type craft capable of meeting few basic requisites: speed, esthetics, safety and stability in rough seas. Tecno 40' was completed in early June 1992, just in time for a new and unprecedented adventure: an endurance trial from Barcelona to Seville during the Spanish Olympic games and Expo 1992, that was a smashing victory for this new boat! This is a boat which has successfully competed in two Venice-Montecarlo and in many other races. The evolution of the TECNO 40' is the new RIB 42' SPORT. |

VALENTINO |
Valentino was the result of a wish to demonstrate that diesel engines could still be competitive in 1993, even after the rules had been changed to the complete advantage of gasoline-powered craft. This could only be achieved by combining diesel engines with extremely light-weight hulls. Except for its debut, Valentino's season in 1993 was quite positive, with the two pilots, Ugland and Hillestad, who climbed the winner's podium several times, and even won the European Championship. But Valentino gave the greatest satisfaction on December 10, 1993, when it set the new world speed record for Class 1 Offshore at 233km/h. |
