NEWS / BLUE FPT WINNER OF 2008 ROUND BRITAIN RACE

After 24 years, FB Design wins again the Round_Britain_Race, joined with FPT_(Fiat_Powertrain_Technologies) engines.
A great success for FB Design racing division: Blue_FPT, a production FB_55’ is first overall in the Round Britain Race, with a time of 20h 36’ 47’’, over a total distance of 1164 nautical miles and an average speed of 56.47 knots.
Blue FPT come first in front of 47 competitors, divided into 7 classes.
The low average speed is a demonstration of the very difficult sea conditions encountered in the first four legs of the race, where all competitors were encountering different problems, starting from the Red FPT, the glorious “CESA_1882 ” boat, driven by Fabio_Buzzi, World Champion in 1988 and 1989, now repowered with four FPT engines of 600 hp.
Unfortunately Red_FPT was stopped before the start by the collision with a submerged barrier, generated by a mistake of the pace boat. All possible repairs was useless and Fabio Buzzi was obliged to retire even before the start!
Nevertheless, the second FB Design boat, also powered by three FPT engines was finishing all legs without any problem, demonstrating that, for winning, You have first to start and second to finish.
The previous Round Britain race happened in 1984 and was also won by Fiat Iveco engines with the “White Iveco” driven by Fabio Buzzi; in this way both FB Design and FPT have given a clear demonstration of their capacity and reliability.
In the Round Britain Race there was engines of all the main engine builders and boats of all mayor shipyards; nevertheless FB Design boats have also won 6 legs over 7 thanks to Wettpunkt.com of Hannes Bohinc, powered by two powerful Isotta Fraschini engines, finally stopped by a broken propeller.
